CONFERENCE SPEAKERS – September 15-16, 2017

Holly’s life is full and busy… just the way she likes it! Like most women, she wears many hats – wife, mom, pastor, teacher, author and cancer survivor. She grew up in Venezuela, Indonesia, and England and eventually moved to Los Angeles where she worked as an actress in films and television for over 10 years.

Today, she and her husband Philip are lead pastors of Oasis Church– a growing, relevant, multi-cultural, multi-generational church they started in 1984 in Los Angeles. She and Philip have taught many relationship seminars around the world and are committed to healthy marriages, especially their own! They love spending time with their two young adult children, Jordan and Paris.

Holly is passionate about seeing women become who God has designed them to become, and to see every generation of woman extend a helping hand to the generation that is younger. Through the women’s ministry of Oasis, GodChicks, Holly seeks to blow the lid off the boxes that women have sometimes put themselves in and encourages women to be the amazing, world-changing champions they were made to be. She hosts an annual conference, She Rises, which is currently held at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and draws women from around the country.

She has written several books, using her humorous yet challenging style to encourage readers. Her newest is Find Your Brave, an honest look about navigating storms and has been an encouragement to the thousands who have read it. Her books include: GodChicks, examining with humor and honesty the many facets of being a woman of God, Daily Steps for GodChicks, a 90-day devotional which was written during her treatment of breast cancer, WarriorChicks, which uses Holly’s own life experiences to deliver witty, yet poignant principles for facing any crisis life throws at you, Love Works, which she wrote with her husband Philip, offers practical help for dating and building a marriage.

Holly has been featured on many TV shows; Fox Family’s Parenting Show, Dick Clark’s The Other Half, Berman and Berman, TBN’s Praise the Lord and JCTV, the 700 Club, and recently The View. Holly speaks at churches and conferences all over the world, and loves living out the adventure God has given her!

Sheila Walsh is a Scottish lass known as “the encourager” to the over 5.5 million women she’s met and spoken to around the world. She loves being a Bible teacher, making God’s Word practical, and sharing her own story of how God met her when she was at her lowest point and lifted her up again.

Sheila also enjoys being an author—in fact she likes to write everyday—and has sold more than five million books. Her newest, In the Middle of the Mess: Strength for This Beautiful, Broken Life, releases in November 2017. She is the cohost of the television program Life Today, airing in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia.

She most recently traveled to Africa, the Dominican Republic, and Southeast Asia.

Calling Texas home, Sheila lives in Dallas with her husband, Barry; her son, Christian; and three little dogs—Belle, Tink, and Maggie.

Jo Saxton is a leader, visionary, and practitioner that church leaders and lay people need to hear!

Born to Nigerian parents and raised in London, Jo has spread her message for the past twenty years across the UK and North America. She has served as a pastor at St. Thomas Church in Sheffield, England, and in a wide range of churches in the United States. In 2009 Jo went to work for 3DM where she continues to serve while writing books, speaking around the world, and planting a church with her husband.

Her message encourages people to engage in missional living and discipleship. Her message specifically equips women for leadership and influence and inspires all believers to engage the world in the same way God does—by going out rather than just reaching out.

Jo has spoken at colleges, universities, and seminaries, including Liberty University, Bethel University, Virginia Baptist College, and Fuller Seminary. She has addressed conference audiences at Q, Catalyst, Simply Youth, and the National Day of Prayer, as well as denominational gatherings for the Virginia Baptist Women, Salvation Army, Evangelical Covenant and Foursquare Church, Lutheran Congregations on Mission for Christ and North Star Church Network.

In her book More than Enchanting: Breaking Through Barriers to Influence Your World (IVP Books, 2012), Jo discusses the central role of women in the church and how to handle the juxtaposition of the biblical model and the current marginalization women find in their churches, neighborhoods, cities, and society. High Heels and Holiness: The Smart Girls Guide to Living Life Well (Hodder, 2012) is a discipleship guide for young adult women, and Real God, Real Life (Hodder, 2011) explores the desire for a deep faith in a life that works. In addition to writing books, Jo blogs at 3DM and Today’s Christian Women.

She and her husband Chris have recently planted Mission Point Church, in the Minneapolis area, where Jo serves as one of the pastors. Jo loves running, good music, reading, and laughing loudly with family and friends over a great meal. Jo and Chris have two amazing daughters. Follow her on Twitter at @josaxton.
